Change Fuel Filter

The fuel filter of a car needs to be changed when dirt and grime clogs it. Even the smallest piece of dirt can damage a fuel injector causing erratic performance, poor gas mileage and even a complete engine breakdown. Change fuel filter whenever the need arises as a clean fuel filter ensure you dependable, trouble-free performance. Automobile experts recommend change of fuel filter for every 10,000 miles or once a year.

Such a move will improve the overall performance of your car. A majority of the fuel injected vehicles use a stainless steel in-line fuel filter located either ahead of the rear wheels on the underside of the vehicle or in the engine compartment. Frequent change of fuel filters prevents harmful contaminants from reaching the fuel injector. Changing a fuel filter is not a tough task anymore. We offer a step-by-step process to change fuel filter. Whenever you change fuel filter, you should take enough care as you are working with sharp, hot objects. You should also follow the instructions carefully. Read and be sure you understand them before you begin. You must keep all the necessary tools handy and allocate yourself enough time so that you do the job in a worry-free way.

When you are about to change fuel filter, first you must disconnect the hose that runs from the fuel pump to the fuel petcock; loosen the screw that holds the tank to the frame; then lift the tank slightly before disconnecting the two electrical plugs on the left hand side beneath the tank. Once you remove the tank, take a note of where the front fitting of the fuel filter is relative to the metal brake line and the inlet for the air box. This will helps while reassembling. After removing the existing filter, you can install the new filter and reattach the inlet and outlet hoses. Once the filter is reinstalled, you can start the engine to check for any leaks.
