Changing Oil Pump

Changing oil pump in your car can be an easy task from now on. Our web site offers you a number of do-it-yourself tips and step-by-step methods that help you in changing the oil pump of your car. Now you need not consult an expert to change your oil pump. Simply follow our guidelines and changing oil pump can be a breeze. Whether you have a car, boat, RV, tractor, we offer you a number of tips that can be ideal for the change of oil pump. You can use the kit we offer and flush out radiator fluids and transmission oil.

This saves you a lot of your valuable time and money by changing your own oil in a matter of minutes, just like the professionals. You can be sure there are no oil mess or fumes, and best of all, no burned hands. All you need to do is to insert the suction probe into the dipstick well and release a clamp. Within a few minutes powerful suction created by the manual vacuum pump, you can draw oil and sludge into a can. You can also feel smudge-free, as your hands never touch the oil or hot engine. You need not even put on old clothes while changing oil pump. No more dirty faces or oily arms either.

You will need a few things to change oil pump. These include: a new oil pump and pickup as your oil pump pickup tube is likely to be incompatible with the new pump, gaskets for the oil pan, caskets for the oil pan, gasket sealer, carburetor gasket, an accurate torque wrench that includes the 20 to 100 ft. lbs range, a micrometer, a good quality gasket scrapper, a rubber mallet, assembly lube, feeler gauges etc. Coming to the step-by-step method of changing oil pump, first try the engine upside down. Then remove all oil pan bolts and remove the pan. When you remove the bolts, note where all of the bolts came from since there are different sizes. If the pan is stuck to the block, gently tap with the mallet until it comes free. Make sure you do not hit it hard as it can deform the pan and cause an oil leak.

Once you do this, stuff some rags into the engine to prevent getting parts of the old gasket in the engine. In the next step, clean the oil pan as well. Then you can remove the main bearing cap from the thrust bearing and inspect the bearing journal and the bearing. They should be smooth and evenly worn. The bearing should also have a dull gray color to it. If you see copper, you will have to have the crank machined. If the crank and bearings are fine, and you are replacing the rear main seal, remove the timing chain cover and chain, unbolt the bearing caps, and remove the crankshaft. No matter you remove the crankshaft or not, you have to re-torque the bearing caps. This could save you from a rebuild due to a spun bearing. In the last step of changing oil pump, you can install the new pickup tube on the oil pump and install the gasket and oil pump. Feel free to contact us if you wish to know more about changing an oil pump, and we can help you on all fronts.
